Nursing students complete program

  POPLARVILLE - Forty-four Pearl River Community College associate degree nursing students received diplomas and pins in a ceremony held Monday, Dec. 12, at the Brownstone Center in Poplarville.
  Dr. William Lewis, PRCC president, presented the diplomas after reminding the graduates to be life-long learners and good representatives of PRCC.
  The graduates are now eligible to take licensing exams to become registered nurses.

Pine Belt Works class set in Hattiesburg

  Pearl River Community College will be the host site for an 80-hour intensive training course for those interested in manufacturing careers.
  The Pine Belt Works Basic Manufacturing Certificate Program will start on Thursday, Jan. 19, at PRCC’s Lowery A. Woodall Advanced Technology Center in Hattiesburg.
  The five-week program meets from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Cost is $60. Students will complete hands-on learning activities and become familiar with basic manufacting processes and workplace rules.

Dental hygiene program ranked nationally

  Pearl River Community College’s dental hygiene program is ranked among the country’s best by the website Community for Accredited Online Schools.
  PRCC’s program is ranked 34th out of the 50 two-year colleges in the survey.
  The PRCC program is a two-year, traditional classroom program with a heavy emphasis on clinical work under the direction of Dr. Shana Allen. It is taught at the Forrest County Center in Hattiesburg.
  The only other two-year Mississippi college ranked by the website is Meridian Community College at number 50.

Hancock Center offering welding at night

  WAVELAND - Pearl River Community College will offer an evening welding class during the spring semester at the Hancock Center in Waveland.
  The class will meet from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, beginning Jan. 9 and ending May 4. Classes meet in the Hancock Center welding shop at 454 Highway 90, Waveland.
  Cost for the course is $250 with $50 due when the application is turned in and the remainder by the first day of class.

Student art work on display

  POPLARVILLE - The work of students in two design classes at Pearl River Community College is on display through Friday.
  The exhibit is in the Moody Hall gallery.
  Students whose work is included are Heather Estis and Ryan Lee, both of Picayune; Kerri Brass of Poplarville, Ayrenee Brown of Prentiss, Alex Byd of Columbia, Danny Mischler of Sumrall, Courtin Oglesby of Waveland, Jonathan Sims of Bassfield, Taelor Bartola of Gilbert, Ariz., and Shelanita Starks of Slidell, La.

Christmas Vespers set for Nov. 29

  POPLARVILLE - The Pearl River Community College choral department will present Christmas Vespers at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Brownstone Center for the Arts in Poplarville.
  The program will feature traditional Christmas music by three choral groups - Wildcat Men’s Choir, Belle Cantante women’s choir and The Voices ensemble.
